Stilling my mind

An abstract in the truest sense of the word, in that you will "see" something different according to whichever orientation you choose to display it (please check out the room mock-ups below to see for yourself)

Do you see golden winter sunshine tingeing a snowy woodland? Mystery-filled reflections on a lake? Silhouetted arms raised in joy? The strength and gentleness of love? Something completely different?

I painted Stilling My Mind as an invitation to engage—emotionally and imaginatively. When you get close to it, you'll see that it's executed in layers of acrylics and mixed media, to balance bold contrasts with ethereal subtlety. It's also tactile, especially where the luminous blush and gold tones meet the deep charcoal and fractured texture. I hope that it evokes both presence and possibility.
